Romans: The Masterpiece of the New Testament

Martin Luther called this book “the masterpiece of the New Testament.” In this first program on Romans we consider the writer and the subject of this precious pure gospel of God.

God’s Saving Way is by Faith, not by Works

In order to keep us from falling further into wickedness and sin, God created man with a good nature that corresponds to Him. This nature, our conscience, and our proper reasonings are a witness in us to God and His law.

God’s Condemnation on the Religious

We can understand why fallen sinners are under condemnation, but why are the religious condemned? Find out several reasons why practicing religious forms and traditions do not justify people before God.

Six Religious Problems

In this program we summarize six reasons why the religious are under condemnation. They trust in a name other than Christ. They have a mere outward knowledge of God.  They practice the same evils that they condemn. They emphasize outward forms and rituals versus the reality of such practices. They lack the inward reality of the Spirit, and they take the Scriptures in an outward and superstitious way.

Christ – Our Way

From the example of Cain we learn that man’s religious efforts do not gain us acceptance before God. Like Cain, religious people are left farther from this fellowship, deeper in sin, and separated from God. God’s way is through a prepared sacrifice – Jesus Christ.

The Definition of Justification

In this program we learn that God is not defeated by the fallen condition of man. He has provided a way in Christ for man to be brought out of condemnation and to become acceptable before Him. Being approved by God according to His standard of righteousness is the true meaning of what it means to be justified.

God’s Way of Bringing Man into Fellowship

Sinful man is full of unrighteousness and short of God’s glory. So how could he approach the righteous, glorious God? In this program we find out the way God provided was through a sacrifice which included the shedding of blood.

What Propitiation and Redemption Mean

Three Things that Do Not justify Us Before God

In this broadcast we expose three wrong concepts concerning how to be approved by God. It is not by our works (good deeds), not by religious practices (circumcision), and not by obeying or keeping the law (commandments) that we are saved. We can only be justified by faith!

The Nature and Function of the Law

God’s Goal of Sonship

In the last half of Romans 8 we come to God’s goal in saving us – that is that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers. Listen to this broadcast to see something more of what is on God’s heart.

Three Stages of Growth toward Full Sonship

Romans Eight helps us realize that the Christian life is one of  stages of growth unto sonship. Children are regenerated in their spirit. Sons are those who are transformed in their souls, and heirs are the mature ones, transfigured in their bodies.

The Work of the Spirit to Bring us unto Full Sonship  

Romans Eight reveals that the Spirit is witnessing, leading, groaning and interceding, and is available to us as the Firstfruit for our enjoyment. This work within matches God’s work in our environment to bring us unto full sonship.

God’s Great Love, the Source of Our Salvation  

As the Lord is working in our environment, and the Spirit is working within us, we need to be assured that we can never be separated from God’s love.

God’s Great Love to Fallen Man  

 

We know that Adam fell right after the time of creation. What did God do? Because of His great love, He did not forsake man, but began His great salvation and continued His plan for man.

God’s Full Salvation for Our Whole Being 

Since we are a three-part being, God’s complete salvation brings life to each part. Through justification our spirit is made life, through sanctification our mind is made alive, and eventually in glorification our bodies will be given life.

Righteousness, Sanctification, and Redemption

These three words are described in one verse in 1 Cor. 1:30, yet it takes 8 chapters in the book of Romans to explain what these mean in our spiritual experience. Listen to this broadcast to find out.

God’s Selection

How did God choose ones for His purpose? In Romans 9 we see that God’s selection is not according to our birth, our works, or anything depending upon us. God’s selection wholly depends on the God who calls.

God’s Mercy and Compassion upon Vessels 

God’s choosing depends on God’s will and His sovereignty. He has mercy and compassion on those whom He wills. He is the Potter who has authority over all His vessels.

What is the Purpose of God? 

Why did God created man as a vessel? God desires that man would be filled with Himself as his content. Until we are filled with the God of purpose, the feeling of emptiness will still remain.

The Availability of Christ 

 

Romans 10 tells us that we don’t need to ascend into heaven to bring Christ down, or descend into the abyss to bring Christ up from the dead. He has passed through all things and has made Himself so available to us for our salvation. Listen to this program to hear how the Bible describes His availability.

Calling upon the Name of Jesus

Paul’s writing in Romans 10 helps us know that the way to be saved is simply by believing with our heart and by confessing with our mouth. There is power and salvation only in the name of Jesus. Call upon this name and you will be saved!

The Lord is Rich to all who Call

In this program we discover that calling is not only the initial way of salvation, but also the way to enjoy a daily salvation. Listen to the testimony of a brother from India who enjoys Christ richly as he calls upon the name of the Lord.

Proclaiming Christ

Paul asks us to consider how ones will call on the Lord to be saved if they do not believe. How will they believe if they have not heard the gospel? How will ones hear if no one is sent to them? Be Saved like Paul

Did you ever read the account of how Paul was saved in Acts 9? No doubt he was influenced by Steven and the other believers who called upon the Lord. Through the hearing of faith and the convicting of the Spirit something was operating in Paul. Then the Lord appeared to him and he was saved to become a useful vessel to bear the Lord’s name before others.

Vessels of Mercy

We are all clay vessels created by God. But are you a chosen one who is enjoying God’s mercy? Are you being filled with Christ to become a person unto honor and glory? Listen to find out more about how to be filled with the real treasure.

What is the Future of the Jews in God’s Plan?

Has God cast away His people? Paul says, ‘absolutely not!’ He has reserved a remnant for Himself according to His selection of grace.

Israel ’s Stumbling has become the Riches of the Gentiles

Although Israel was not cast away, they did stumble. Listen to this program as we consider how their misstep has become the riches for the world.

Romans one through eight shows us the procedure in God’s full salvation of bringing the many sinners unto full sonship. Starting in Romans 12 we are shown the purpose of God’s full salvation. The Practical Expression of the Body of Christ

 

At the end of the book of Romans we see a very practical expression of the Body of Christ exhibited in local churches. From the last couple chapters of Romans we can see that the Body is not only mystical and spiritual, but also very practical.
